Laraque Let Loose

Posted on January 21, 2010 | 5 Comments

Georges Laraque

Jacques Martin has told Laraque that he won’t play another game as a Hab. I wonder what the backstory is?  Why’d they let Big Georges go?

Where do you think he will end up? I know at least one Canadian team who could use some toughness in the playoffs.

3 Points in 28 games, 28 PIMS which is 237th in the league, -6 +/- rating and I would likely guess he talks too much shit in the locker room…..equals, bye bye

Yeah Steve, clearly not a difference maker! But maybe on a different team?

Well, after watching years of Jacques Martin here in Ottawa, if the reason a bad player/coach relationship…..we seen it here in Ottawa. Martin always sent Speeza back to the minorssaying that he wasn’t ready……but yet when Speeza was called up, he scored a point or two in almost every game. I don’t think Speeza ever played a season here under Martin…….I say give Laraque a chance, he’s a tough player….The Habs should consider getting rid of Jacques Martin before they have another Mario Tremblay/Patrick Roy scenario!

George is a role player at best..Drop the gloves at the face off.. or in front of the net.. or in the corner..In to days Canadiens game that doesn’t fit. He is chronically sidelined with back problems and really does nothing for the team… There has been no word of discord between him and his teammates or coaches. In reality, the Habs don’t need him…Make room for a youngster I say.. we wont get anyone for him in his condition and will have to swallow the salary but,, better to have a contributing player that will make a difference.

George is a fighter, at best. He refuses to fight any opponent “under his weight class”; it’s his own policy. Said policy goes against the “team”. He’s there to fight, an refuses to if the target is of smaller stature than himself. With his lack of scoring, his role is quite minimal on the team. Thus his release. I’m sure someone else will pick him up.
